Description

UASt regulatory sequences drive the ovo cDNA with the ovo^D1 point mutation. This leads to the expression of an N-terminal extended form that acts as a transcriptional repressor.

In embryos expressing ovo^D1.Scer\UAS driven by Scer\GAL4^en-e16E, both cell rows of the posterior compartment make naked cuticle. Expression of ovo^D1.Scer\UAS driven by Scer\GAL4^ptc-559.1 prevents formation of denticle belts 2 and 3, replacing them with naked cuticle. Expression of ovo^D1.Scer\UAS by Scer\GAL4^wg.PM results in embryos with a wild-type cuticle.

Denticle formation induced by pan^ΔN.Scer\UAS can be suppressed by ovo^D1.Scer\UAS when driven by Scer\GAL4^unspecified. Co-expression of Ras85D^V12.Scer\UAS and ovo^D1.Scer\UAS driven by Scer\GAL4^e22c or Scer\GAL4^69B suppresses the extra denticle phenotype seen by ubiquitous expression of Ras85D^V12.Scer\UAS alone.
