Expression of pblScer\UAS.cPa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF results in a 'rough eye' phenotype.

Over-expression driven by Scer\GAL4prd.RG1 does not result in a detectable phenotype. Over-expression of pblScer\UAS.cPa in the eye driven by Scer\GAL4GMR.PF results in a rough eye phenotype characterised by misshaped ommatidia, disrupted bristle distribution, misshapen rhabdomeres, and a significant increase in the number of pigment cells.

The eye phenotype caused by expression of pblScer\UAS.cPa by Scer\GAL4GMR.PF is suppressed almost completely by Df(2R)Jp8, and Rho172R. The phenotype is dominantly suppressed by dia2. Cdc423, Cdc424 and Df(3L)Ar14-8 have no effect on the phenotypes in the eye caused by pblScer\UAS.cPa driven by Scer\GAL4GMR.PF.

Comments

pblScer\UAS.cPa reduces the frequency of defects in the left-right asymmetry of the hindgut by half in homozygous pblfortune embryos, even in the absence of a Scer\GAL4 driver. When expression is driven by Scer\GAL4arm.PS, Scer\GAL4byn-Gal4 or Scer\GAL4NP2432 the left-right asymmetry are rescued. Expression driven by either Scer\GAL4how-24B, Scer\GAL4elav.PU or Scer\GAL448Y does not increase level of rescue above that seen without a Scer\GAL4 driver.

Expression of pblScer\UAS.cPa under the control of Scer\GAL4byn-Gal4 rescues the reduced number of cells in the epithelium of stage 13 pblfortune homozygous embryos.

Both cytokinesis and migration defects in the mesoderm of pbl3/Df(3L)pbl-NR embryos are rescued by pblScer\UAS.cPa; Scer\GAL4twi.PB. However, cytokinesis defects still result in multi-nucleated cells in the ectoderm of these embryos.
