Detailed Description

Expression of rprScer\UAS.cIa under the control of Scer\GAL4slbo.2.6 causes border cells to stall at the anterior end of the egg chamber. The stalled border cells have a condensed morphology that is typical of apoptotic cells.

When rprScer\UAS.cIa is driven by Scer\GAL4vg.PM, regional wing defects are seen. When rprScer\UAS.cIa is driven by Scer\GAL4sca-537.4, complete loss of bristles are seen in the tergum, notum and scutellum.

Expression of rprScer\UAS.cIa under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PHb in S2 cells results in cell death.

rprScer\UAS.cIa; Scer\GAL4GMR.PF flies have extremely reduced eyes, or lack them altogether. Transfection of S2 cells with rprScer\UAS.cIa and Scer\GAL4Act5C.PHb causes cell death.

Coexpression of rprScer\UAS.cIa and WScer\UAS.cIa, under the control of Scer\GAL4btl.PS, disrupts the tracheal system and increases the number of apoptotic cells.

The cell death seen in S2 cells expressing rprScer\UAS.cIa under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PHb is suppressed by coexpression of BacA\p35Scer\UAS.cHa.

The eye phenotype of rprScer\UAS.cIa; Scer\GAL4GMR.PF flies is partially suppressed by Pk92BK618M.Scer\UAS or bskDN.Scer\UAS, but not by p38bDN.Scer\UAS. Increased cell death due to transfection of S2 cells with rprScer\UAS.cIa and Scer\GAL4Act5C.PHb is partially suppressed by thScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG.
