Expression of Droncpro.C-A.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4Hsp83.PA has no significant effect on spermatogenesis in adult flies.

Adult eyes of flies overexpressing dominant-negative Nc, under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF, appear phenotypically normal, with precocious cell death not induced in these eye-antennal discs,

22% of heat shocked Ncpro.C-A.Scer\UAS; Scer\GAL4hs.PB pupae have persistent salivary glands at 24 hours apf (n=383), whereas no salivary gland cells persist in non heat shocked control pupae with the same genotype. DNA fragmentation fails to occur in these persistent salivary glands. 10% of heat shocked Ncpro.C-A.Scer\UAS; Scer\GAL4fkh.PH pupae have persistent salivary glands at 24 hours apf (n=122). DNA fragmentation fails to occur in these persistent salivary glands.

The addition of Ncpro.C-A.Scer\UAS driven by Scer\GAL4GMR.PF, to rprGMR.PW embryos partially suppresses cell killing in the eye.

The spermatogenesis defects characteristic for Duba107 homozygote adult males are not suppressed by expression of Droncpro.C-A.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4Hsp83.PA in the mutant background as mature spermatids are completely missing in these flies.

Co-expression of Ncpro.C-A.Scer\UAS with hpoScer\UAS.cUa in the developing eye (both under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF completely suppresses the cell death seen upon expression of hpoScer\UAS.cUa alone.
