nmoc5-1.Scer\UAS; Scer\GAL4sd-SG29.1 flies have distally notched wings, but nmoc5-1.Scer\UAS; Scer\GAL471B flies have normal wings. nmoc5-1.Scer\UAS; Scer\GAL4ap-md544 flies lack many notum macrochaetae. In nmoc5-1.Scer\UAS; Scer\GAL4ap-md544 flies, the wing blades do not appose properly resulting in a large blister.
Ectopic expression of nmo in epidermal cells of the embryo using the Scer\GAL469B with nmoc5-1.Scer\UAS results in severe head malformations and loss of denticle structures and denticle diversity and an increase in embryonic cell death. In Scer\GAL469B, nmoc5-1.Scer\UAS adults, the wing blade is smaller and narrower than wild-type and shows extra vein material along L2 and a severe reduction in the size of the posterior cross vein.
Expression of nmoc5-1.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL432B or Scer\GAL469B results in loss of posterior crossvein tissue. Expression of nmoc5-1.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL469B results in ectopic vein formation in the anterior part of the wing and the wing blade elongates and is more narrow and pointed than normal. Expression of nmoc5-1.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL469B results in severe patterning defects in the abdomen, including disrupted polarity of microchaetae and macrochaetae in the tergites. Expression of two copies of nmoc5-1.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL469B results in embryonic lethality with variable early phenotypes, including denticle belt defects, failure to produce cuticle and defects in dorsal closure.

Notching of the distal wing margin in nmoc5-1.Scer\UAS; Scer\GAL4sd-SG29.1 flies is completely suppressed by sggM11/+. Loss of notum macrochaetae in nmoc5-1.Scer\UAS; Scer\GAL4ap-md544 flies is suppressed by sggM11/+ and enhanced by AxnA2.Scer\UAS, leading to the loss of all scutellar bristles. Severe blistering of the wing in nmoc5-1.Scer\UAS; Scer\GAL4ap-md544 flies is suppressed by sggM11/+, resulting in almost wild-type wings. The wing phenotype of armΔ.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1; Scer\GAL471B flies is almost completely suppressed by nmoc5-1.Scer\UAS.
The under-rotation defect exhibited by the ommatidia in the eye discs of scaScer\UAS.cEa; Scer\GAL4hs.2sev larvae, is partially suppressed by nmoc5-1.Scer\UAS.
The increase in cell death seen in Scer\GAL469B with nmoc5-1.Scer\UAS embryos is supressed by co-expression of BacA\p35 from BacA\p35Scer\UAS.cHa. The cuticles of these embryos are indistinguishable from those due to expression of BacA\p35 alone (BacA\p35Scer\UAS.cHa; Scer\GAL469B) Heterozygosity for bsk1 can suppress the wing-vein defects, as well as wing shape and size defects seen in Scer\GAL469B, nmoc5-1.Scer\UAS adults. Heterozygosity for Jra1 can suppress the wing-vein defects, as well as wing shape and size defects seen in Scer\GAL469B, nmoc5-1.Scer\UAS adults. Heterozygosity for msnj1E2 can suppress the wing-vein defects, as well as wing shape and size defects seen in Scer\GAL469B, nmoc5-1.Scer\UAS adults. Heterozygosity for Df(2L)flp147E can suppress the wing-vein defects, and partially suppress the wing shape and size defects seen in Scer\GAL469B, nmoc5-1.Scer\UAS adults. Tak1K46R.Scer\UAS rescues the posterior cross vein, wing shape and size defects seen in Scer\GAL469B, nmoc5-1.Scer\UAS adults, but enhances the L2 extra vein phenotype.

Comments
Expression of nmoc5-1.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4bs-1348 rescues the extra wing vein phenotype seen in nmoadk1/nmoadk2 flies.
