Adult survivors transheterozygotes with RpL15PΔ2 or RpL15PΔ8 are sterile with underdeveloped gonads and show reduced body size, small and thin bristles, rough and/or reduced eyes, misrotated genitalia (males) and wing, wing vein and wing hair phenotypes. Reducing the growth temperature to 22oC (as compared to 25oC) increases the incidence of survivors. Sex ratios are also skewed in favour of males in the survivors. An exception is the RpL158-1/RpL15PΔ2 combination where sex ratios is normal.
