      Expression of wBR.BR is reduced (P{SUPor-P-lt}43B) or unaffected (P{SUPor-P-lt}28C) (in a background of reduced su(Hw)+) by the expression of tethered esc - heat shock must be applied daily for the effect to be clear. Effect on expression of wBR.E.BR varies similarly, depending upon the insertion site of the P{SUPor-P}. Expression of y+mDint2 is reduced (in a background of reduced su(Hw)+) by the expression of tethered Pc, Scm or esc. For Scmhs.T:su(Hw)-ZnF,T:Zzzz\FLAG and eschs.T:su(Hw)-ZnF,T:Zzzz\FLAG heat shock must be applied daily. Expression in the body cuticle is less sensitive to repression than in the wing cuticle. ph-p409 substantially suppresses the strong silencing of wBR.E.BR in P{SUPor-P}22F caused by tethered Scm or esc.
