The P{EP} insertion is in the fourth intron of Pk61C.

P{EP} insertion 710bp upstream of the 5' end of exon 3. P{EP} element is inserted so that expression from the Scer\UAS sequences in the element drives expression of antisense Pk61C.

When raised on food containing 6% ethanol, Pdk1EP3091 homozygotes take a longer time to eclose but show complete suppression of the reduced survival, compared to wild type.

Expression of Pk61CEP3091 under the control of Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1 (the animals are initially raised at 18oC and then shifted to 29oC after 10 days) results in a reduced number of early germ cells (stem cells, gonialblasts and spermatogonia) in the testis.

Homozygotes produce no ventral cuticles and do not develop into the larval stage. Apoptotic activity is higher than controls in these embryos.

Homozygous and transheterozygous Pk61C5/Pk61CEP3091 larvae die during the second instar.
