Expression of wBR.BR and wBR.E.BR is reduced (in a background of reduced su(Hw)+) by the expression of tethered Pc. This effect is seen without the use of heat shock. Expression of y+mDint2 is reduced (in a background of reduced su(Hw)+) by the expression of tethered Pc, Scm or esc. In the case of Pchs.T:su(Hw)-ZnF,T:Zzzz\FLAG, the effect is seen without the use of heat shock. Expression in the body cuticle is less sensitive to repression than in the wing cuticle. ph-p409 completely suppresses the strong silencing of wBR.E.BR in P{SUPor-P}22F caused by tethered Pc.
