Scer\GAL4Gr66a.3.153 drives expression in a subset of bitter-responsive gustatory receptor neurons (GRNs) of the labellum that project to regions PMS1-3 of the posterior maxillary sensory center. Labeled pharyngeal GRNs project to the VPS1 and VPS2 regions of the inferior pharyngeal sensory center and the PMS1 region of the posterior maxillary sensory center.

Scer\GAL4Gr66a.3.153 drives expression in approximately 25 neurons per labial palp, in a single neuron in most or all sensilla.

Scer\GAL4Gr66a.3.153 expresses in 8-10 neurons innervating the medial most row of small bristles on the labellum. In larvae, Scer\GAL4Gr66a.3.153 expresses in a single neuron in the terminal organ and two neurons in the mouth.

Optogenetic activation (using Cnoc\ChR1Cs.IVS.20xUAS.Venus with 635 nm (red) light) of Scer\GAL4Gr66a.3.153 neurons results in a significant reduction in proboscis extension reflex in response to 100 mM sucrose presentation, compared to controls.
