Description

The P{EP} insertion is 30bp upstream of the 5' end of the otk cDNA, and within the 5' UTR inferred from transcript size. Its orientation is opposite to the open reading frame.

Detailed Description
Statement
Reference

In late third instar otk3/otkEP2017 there are minor defects in axonal projections from developing eye photoreceptor cells: an average of 18 R2-R5 axons or axon bundles per hemisphere are mistargeted.

When otkEP2017 is driven by Scer\GAL4elav.PLu axon guidance phenotypes are seen. The dorsal branch of the SNa often does not divide in the proper location but rather extends as a single thicker branch, remaining fasciculated together in over 60% of segments. The ISNb can sometimes fail to defasciculate from the ISN, and the branches from the ISNb to individual muscles are also sometimes bypassed.

Comments

Mistargetting of developing eye photoreceptor axons in otk3/otkEP2017 late third instar larvae is largely suppressed by otkScer\UAS.cWa; Scer\GAL4GMR.PF.
