Detailed Description

Expression of Rho1dsRNA.UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4path-c135 leads to either absent or only a trace of intact carpet glia cell plasma membrane (with a negligible extension toward the anterior while remaining in the posterior center of the eye disc) and movement of retinal basal glia cells (Repo) farther anteriorly reaching the differentiating photoreceptor cells in the eye disc of the third instar larvae when compared to controls. Also it leads to impaired blood brain barrier in adults compared to controls.

Expression of Rho1dsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU does not disrupt eye morphology in adults.

Expression of Rho1dsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4OK107 results in the presence of multinucleated cells in the mushroom body.

The dot-like small eye phenotype characteristic for flies expressing egrScer\UAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PFa is exacerbated further by co-expression of Rho1dsRNA.Scer\UAS RNAi resulting in a 'no eye' phenotype with scar-like and necrosis-like tissue present.

Coexpression of Rho1dsRNA.Scer\UAS with shgdCR3h.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-rs, under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.2sev, enhances the under-rotation of ommatidia seen in Scer\GAL4hs.2sev>shgdCR3h.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-rs eyes.

Xenogenetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

The defective eye morphology (disrupted ommatidial lattice) observed in adult flies expressing either Hsap\MAPTScer\UAS.B or Hsap\APP2xAPP.SP.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU is significantly worsened by co-expression of Rho1dsRNA.Scer\UAS RNAi with necrotic spots appearing in the posterior eye.

Comments

Transcription from the Rho1dsRNA.Scer\UAS construct should produce Rho1 dsRNA, resulting in dsRNA interference (RNAi) of the Rho1 gene.
