Mushroom bodies expressing LIMK1Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4ey-OK107 display short α/β axonal lobes compared with those of controls, with increased levels of F-actin. Clones expressing LIMK1Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4ey-OK107 also show increased levels of F-actin and both dorsal and medial axon growth defects.

Expression of LIMK1Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4Act.PU in olfactory receptor neuron (ORN) clones results in 88% of Or59c-expressing ORNs mistargeting.

Expression of LIMK1Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4OK107 results in axon growth defects in the mushroom body, with the severity of the phenotype depending on the particular P{UAS-LIMK1.T:Ivir\HA1} insertion line used. In "severe" cases, all mushroom body axon lobes are truncated and there are axon guidance defects at the peduncle, with axons forming ball-like structures in this region. In "strong" cases, no guidance defects are seen, but both the dorsal and medial branches are truncated. In "weak" cases, axon growth defects are seen only in the dorsal lobes, and the medial lobes appear normal.

Expression of LIMK1Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 does not cause a detectable wing hair phenotype. Expression of LIMK1Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 driven by Scer\GAL4ap-md544 at 25oC causes lethality.

Expression of sshScer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 suppresses the axon growth defect and F-actin elevation seen in the α/β mushroom body lobes when LIMK1Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4ey-OK107. This suppression does not occur in a sickΔ/sickA384 mutant background.

Expression of Rac1Y40C.Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC suppresses the axon growth defect and F-actin elevation seen in the α/β mushroom body lobes when LIMK1Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4ey-OK107. This suppression does not occur in a sickΔ/sickA384 mutant background.

Expression of sickScer\UAS.T:Disc\RFP-mCherry suppresses the medial axon growth defect and F-actin elevation seen in the α/β mushroom body lobes when LIMK1Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4ey-OK107. Dorsal axon defects are still observed.

Expression of sickK1881A.Scer\UAS.T:Disc\RFP-mCherry does not suppress the axon growth defect and F-actin elevation seen in the α/β mushroom body lobes when LIMK1Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4ey-OK107.

The axon growth and increased F-actin phenotypes seen in α/β lobe mushroom body clones expressing LIMK1Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 are suppressed by sickScer\UAS.T:Disc\RFP-mCherry. ssh1-63 reverses this suppression, with LIMK1Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 sickScer\UAS.T:Disc\RFP-mCherry ssh1-63 triple mutant clones showing the more severe highly elevated F-actin and 'posterior arrest' (failure of axons to extend to form peduncles and lobe structures) phenotypes seen in LIMK1Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1, ssh1-63 mutants. The phenotype seen in LIMK1Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1, ssh1-63 double mutant clones is more severe than in either single mutant.

Or59c-expressing olfactory receptor neuron clones which are mutant for psidin1 and which are also expressing LIMK1Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4Act.PU show mistargeting in 87% of cases.
