RNAi knockdown of Tak1, through expression of Tak1NIG.1388R in the posterior compartment of the wing disc, under the control of either Scer\GAL4en.PU or Scer\GAL4hh.PU, does not affect levels of cell death.

Tak1dsRNA.Scer\UAS when driven by Scer\GAL4yolk or Scer\GAL4hs.PB produces an immune deficiency phenotype. Mutant animals are highly susceptible to Gram-negative bacterial infection, exhibiting a dramatic loss of survival rate after infection, with all animals dying within 4 days. Expression of Tak1dsRNA.Scer\UAS when driven by Scer\GAL4da.G32 does not lead to any detectable developmental defects.

Expression of Tak1NIG.1388R suppresses the rough eye phenotype seen when bend09936 is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PU.

Expression of Tak1NIG.1388R suppresses the small scutellum phenotype seen when benEP1651 is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr.PU.

There is a significant reduction in chromosome instability tolerance induced by mad2GD16427 expression, when Tak1NIG.1388R is expressed in imaginal wing discs under the control of Scer\GAL4en.PU or Scer\GAL4hh.PU. There is also a concomitant increase in cell death in these double mutants.

Expression of Tak1NIG.1388R suppresses the anterior crossvein loss seen when Uev1AScer\UAS.cMa and benScer\UAS.cUa are expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1.

Co-expression of both slprdsRNA.Scer\UAS.NIG and Tak1dsRNA.Scer\UAS significantly suppresses the ectopic apoptosis in cells also expressing Rho1Scer\UAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1.

The eye phenotype in Ras85DKP mutant flies is partially suppressed by ectopic expression of Tak1dsRNA.Scer\UAS in the eye under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF.

Expression of Tak1dsRNA.Scer\UAS (under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI) using the FLP/FRT system strongly suppresses metastatic behaviour in l(2)gl4 mutants expressing Ras85DV12.Scer\UAS.
