In individuals expressing fneUAS.cCa under the control of Scer\GAL4ppk.PG, L3 class IV da neurons show decreased terminal branch length, reduced branching proximal to the soma, and increased arbor empty space. The dendritic arbor is delayed at 16h after puparium formation. Arbors show an increase in stable microtubules compared to controls.

The expression of fneUAS.cCa under the control of Scer\GAL4NP1624 results in nurse cell death at later stages of egg chamber development; and results in the typically cuboidal or columnar follicle cells to flatten, becoming more squamous in shape.

Expression of fneScer\UAS.cCa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU has no effect on adult eye appearance.

fneScer\UAS.cCa; Scer\GAL4elav.PLu animals have varying degrees of lethality, and of arrested development at pupal stages, depending on the insertions used: 48% of P{UAS-fne.C}4-10B; P{GAL4-elav.L}G1-10 embryos hatch and 63% of first instar larvae reach adulthood. 38% of P{UAS-fne.C}3-7A; P{GAL4-elav.L}G1-9 embryos hatch, but all arrest at second instar and then survive for a further 10-12 days without additional growth or molting. 30% of P{UAS-fne.C}4-10B; P{GAL4-elav.L}G1-9 embryos hatch, but all of these die as larvae, but all arrest at second instar and then survive for a further 10-12 days without additional growth or molting. 45% of P{UAS-fne.C}3-7A; P{GAL4-elav.L}G1-10 embryos hatch, of which 39% pupate and 36% survive to adulthood. 45% of P{UAS-fne.C}4-10B; Scer\GAL4elav-C155 embryos hatch, of which 43% pupate and 17% survive to adulthood. All these adults are female. 35% of P{UAS-fne.C}3-7A; Scer\GAL4elav-C155 embryos hatch, of which only 10% pupate and only 2% survive to adulthood. All these adults are female.

Expression of fneScer\UAS.cCa under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155 results in extremely decreased viability. Most of the survivors have extra wing veins and one or two additional partial or full prothoracic legs.

The moderate rough eye phenotype and reduced adult eye size characteristic for flies expressing Scer\GAL4GMR.PU under the control of Hsap\MAPTV337M.Scer\UAS is significantly worsened by co-expression of fneScer\UAS.cCa, exacerbating the rough appearance.
