Expression of Nelf-EdsRNA.IR.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4A9 results in ectopic wing veins.

Expression of Nelf-EIR.dsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1 results in prominent blistering of the wing blade in newly hatched flies. The blister deflates after a while leaving a clear scar which causes the wing to bend up. The blisters are generally on the dorsal side of the wing, covering both the anterior and posterior compartments, and are of different sizes on the two wings. Expression of Nelf-EIR.dsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4bi-md653 results in wing blisters, which are predominantly found on the ventral part of the wing. The wings are held in a D-like fashion. Expression of Nelf-EIR.dsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4ap-md544 results in the two layers of the whole wing appearing to be completely separated, with the wings looking like lymph filled balloons. The hemolymph appears to contain air bubbles and soon becomes blackened within the wing. The wings are held out in a D-like fashion. The flies have a furrows in the thorax (especially towards the head) and most have one or more dark spots in the head. There is clear vortex formation on both sides of the thorax. Expression of Nelf-EIR.dsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF results in irregular rows of facets in the posterior part of the eye. Expression of Nelf-EIR.dsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4Dll-md23 results in a much reduced arista and antennal segments 2 and 3 are smaller than normal. There is a weak reduction in the length of the distal tarsal segment of the leg.
