Detailed Description

E(z)731 mutant clones show homeotic transformation into more posterior body segments; the mutant sensory bristles are finer and more tapered than the neighbouring wild type bristles in A2 and resemble bristles characteristic of abdominal segment A10 in wild type animals.

Homozygous neuroblast clones in the third larval instar central brain and ventral ganglion are dramatically reduced in size compared to control clones and show a dramatic reduction in mitotic activity.

Homozygous clones in the wing result in an overall reduction in wing size, indicating partial transformation to haltere, and blisters and necrotic tissue are seen in the wing blade.

E(z)731 mosaic brains show misguided axons and ectopic gila-like cells.

Homozygous clones in the imaginal disc have no obvious proliferation defects.

Genetic Interactions

The ectopic sex comb teeth phenotype of Psc1 heterozygous males is exacerbated by heterozygosity for E(z)731.

The disorganised eye phenotype caused by expression of sensScer\UAS.cNa under the control of Scer\GAL4lz-gal4 is suppressed by E(z)731.

Heterozygosity for E(z)731 suppresses the over-representation phenotype of Utx1 mosaics.

E(z)731 dominantly suppresses the eye tumour phenotype of flies expressing DlScer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH and also carrying the P{GSV1}lolaGS88A8 insertion (which results in the lolaGS88A8 and psqGS88A8 alleles being expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH).
