Statement Reference The addition of E2f2dsRNA.cSa dsRNA to SL2 cells treated with E2fdsRNA.cFa dsRNA allows the E2f2-deficient cells to enter S phase, but does not rescue the cell cycle phasing defects. Although some SL2 cells treated with both E2fdsRNA.cFa and E2f2dsRNA.cSa dsRNAs can enter S phase, these cells fail to proliferate. No increase in apoptosis is evident, suggesting that this failure to proliferate is not due to cell death. The proportion of G2-phase cells remains low, indicating that few of the BrdU-positive cells fully complete S phase. SL2 cells treated with E2fdsRNA.cFa, E2f2dsRNA.cSa and dapdsRNA.cFa dsRNAs show a similar cell cycle distribution as wild-type cells and these cell cultures increase in number, although at a rate that is approximately half that of control cells.

dsRNA transcribed from the template was transfected into S2 cells to study the phenotypic consequences of dsRNA interference (RNAi) of the E2f2 gene. dsRNA has been synthesised and used to treat SL2 cells, to study the effects of dsRNA interference (RNAi) of the E2f2 gene.
