Expression of bowl^RBG under the control of Scer\GAL4^ptc-559.1 results in fusion of tarsal segments in the leg, with tarsal segments 1 and 2 being most consistently fused, while tarsal segments 2 and 3 are occasionally fused. Expression of bowl^RBG under the control of Scer\GAL4^Dll-md23 results in fusion of tarsal segments in the leg.

bowl^RBG; Scer\GAL4^byn-Gal4 embryos have only subtle hindgut defects: The small intestine is slightly wide than wild-type, the large intestine is shorter and the rectum slightly longer.
