Expression of banA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 results in folded wings which are slightly curved and often blistered. The veins are thicker and the wings appear darker than normal.

Adult escapers expressing banA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4sd-SG29.1 sometimes have curved or folded wings. Vein L5 is thicker than normal, whereas veins L4 and L2 are often incomplete.

Expression of banA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1 results in overgrowth of the L3-L4 intervein region.

Overexpression of banA.Scer\UAS, under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF results in the accumulation of a large number of extra interommatidial cells and margin cells. Overexpression also causes a reduction in the level of apoptosis. Excess interommatidial cells indicate that overexpression of ban mimics loss of hpo in driving cell proliferation and inhibiting apoptosis.

When banA.Scer\UAS is driven by Scer\GAL4en-e16E overgrowth is seen in the posterior compartment of the wing and of segments in the larval body.
