Insertion of PBac{PB} into the last intron of Myd88. Results in a chimaeric mRNA with the last exon of Myd88 is replaced by exons 2, 3 and 4 of the w gene. In the resulting protein the C-terminal extension is replaced by 39 random amino acids.

VA1d olfactory receptor neuron axon targeting is normal in mutant flies.

Mutant flies are highly susceptible to infection with either E. faecalis or S. epidermidis, resulting in rapid and complete lethality. The mutant flies are not sensitive to infection with E. coli.

Inducible expression of Drs is strongly reduced in Myd88c03881 mutants. Flies are highly susceptible to infection by fungi. Survival of adults is impaired. Embryos of mutant females are ventralised. Nuclear localization of dl, and twi expression, on ventral side of embryo fails.
