Adults expressing pnrEnR.Scer\UAS.T:en-Rep under the control of Scer\GAL4tin.CΔ4 show an increase in heart arrest/fibrillation compared to control flies upon electrical pacing of the heart.
Animals expressing pnrEnR.Scer\UAS.T:en-Rep under the control of Scer\GAL4tin.CΔ4 in the adult stages only (a temperature sensitive Scer\GAL80 construct is used to inhibit Scer\GAL4tin.CΔ4 until this stage) show a dramatic increase in the rate of pacing-induced cardiac arrest/fibrillation, which becomes more severe with age. The susceptibility to pacing is already very high in young adult flies of this genotype.
Animals expressing pnrEnR.Scer\UAS.T:en-Rep under the control of Scer\GAL4how-24B in the adult stages only (a temperature sensitive Scer\GAL80 construct is used to inhibit Scer\GAL4how-24B until this stage) show a dramatic increase in the rate of pacing-induced cardiac arrest/fibrillation, which becomes more severe with age. Cardiac dysfunction is lower at young ages in flies of this genotype, but quickly increases with time.
Flies expressing pnrEnR.Scer\UAS.T:en-Rep under the control of Scer\GAL4tin.CΔ4 have a severely truncated lifespan.
Expression of pnrEnR.Scer\UAS.T:en-Rep in Hand-expressing cells, driven by Scer\GAL4HCH.Hand, does not ablate these cells but appears to lead to a change of cell fate.
