Description

Insertion 80bp upstream of the first ATG in the mtrm coding sequence.

P{SUPor-P} insertion in the third intron of exo70. The insertion is also 90bp upstream of the predicted start codon of mtrm (mtrm is nested within the third intron of exo70).

Detailed Description
Statement
Reference

Heterozygosity for mtrmKG08051 results in elevated X (49.8%) and fourth (33.8%) chromosome nondisjunction in In(1)FM7/X ; svspa-pol females compared to controls. The level of X chromosome nondisjunction in heterozygous mtrmKG08051 females carrying two normal sequence X chromosomes is only 4.4%, while the frequency of fourth chromosome nondisjunction in these females is 26.0%.

Comments

The elevated X and fourth chromosome nondisjunction seen in In(1)FM7/X ; svspa-pol females heterozygous for mtrmKG08051 is largely rescued by expression of mtrmScer\UAS.P\T.cHa under the control of Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16; the rescued females show only 2.7% X and 7.1% fourth chromosome nondisjunction.

Comments

Precise excision of the P{SUPor-P} element reverts the high levels of nondisjunction and the recessive female sterility caused by the P{SUPor-P}exo70KG08051 insertion.
