      Strong expression of Avic\GFPFmr1.CGG90.E.Scer\UAS driven by Scer\GAL4GMR.PF, rough eyes, loss of pigmentation, and severe cell death is seen. When Avic\GFPFmr1.CGG90.E.Scer\UAS is driven by a 'moderate' expressing line of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF, a mild rough eye phenotype and holes in tangential sections of the eye are seen. This phenotype strengthens with age. This phenotype also strengthens is expression is increased (by raising the temperature at which the flies are cultured), thus this phenotype is a progressive neurodegeneration. Inclusions are seen in the nuclei of mutant eye cells. Strong expression of Avic\GFPFmr1.CGG90.E.Scer\UAS driven by Scer\GAL4elav-C155, lethality is seen. With a 'moderate' expression the mutants have a reduced viability. This phenotype also strengthens is expression is increased (by raising the temperature at which the flies are cultured), thus this phenotype is a progressive neurodegeneration. Strong expression of Avic\GFPFmr1.CGG90.E.Scer\UAS driven by Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI, late larval lethality is seen. With a 'moderate' expression the mutants a reduced viability and lethality in males is seen.
