Description
What does this section display?
This section contains items that were added to this record for each release. It currently only tracks new links between this FlyBase report and other FlyBase data classes (e.g. genes, references, stocks) or controlled vocabulary terms (e.g. GO, anatomy terms).
What does this section not display?
This section does not currently display links that were removed or gene model changes.

In mio[1]/mio[2] mutants, the vast majority of egg chambers arrest prior to stage 5 of oogenesis, well before the start of vitellogenesis in stage 7.
81% of egg chambers in mio1 homozygotes have 16-polyploid nurse cells and no oocyte. These egg chambers rarely develop beyond stage 5 of oogenesis. This is a higher penetrance than seen for mio1/Df(2L)yan-J2 (64%), suggesting that mio1 is a weak antimorph.

Nup44A[EP2417]/+ partially suppresses the mio[1]/mio[2] oogenesis phenotype. In contrast to mio[1]/mio[2] single mutants, egg chambers from Nup44A[EP2417]/+, mio[1]/mio[2] females frequently progress through vitellogenesis to produce mature eggs. Moreover, a small percentage of the eggs laid by Nup44A[EP2417]/+, mio[1]/mio[2] females hatch and develop into viable adults. The percentage of mio[1]/mio[2] mutant egg chambers with an oocyte increases 6-fold in a Df(2R)ED1735/+ genetic background. The percentage of mio[1]/mio[2] mutant egg chambers with an oocyte increases 6-fold in a Nup44A[Δ15]/+ genetic background.
Transformation of oocytes to nurse cells in mio2/mio1 females is suppressed by mei-W681/+ or mei-W68k05603/+.
