The interrhabdomeral space is reduced in size in Ire1f02170 mutant clones compared to controls.

Ire1f02170 mutant larvae are significantly smaller than heterozygous controls, and fail to develop beyond the 1st instar larval stage. Flies that are mutant for maternal Ire1f02170 also show first instar larval lethality.
