What does this section display?
This section contains items that were added to this record for each release.
It currently only tracks new links between this FlyBase report and other
FlyBase data classes (e.g. genes, references, stocks) or controlled
vocabulary terms (e.g. GO, anatomy terms).
What does this section not display?
This section does not currently display links that were removed or gene model changes.

Detailed Description
| |||
Statement Reference Nf1[c00617] males are smaller than control males, while females show no change.
Nf1[c00617] flies exhibit 3 minute, 3 hour, and 24 hour memory deficits. In training trial assays, where flies are repeatedly trained with odor avoidance assays, Nf1[P1] flies perform poorly even after one trial, but then exhibit wild-type levels of olfactory memory acquisition. When Nf1[c00617] mutants and controls are both trained with three trials, immediate memory is identical (when performance is normalised to the control so memory decay can be compared). Likewise, memory tested at two subsequent time points is indistinguishable.

| Comments | Expression of Nf1[Scer\UAS.cBa] in mushroom body neurons during development and adulthood under the control of inducible Scer\GAL4[Mef2.247.Switch] (in a RU486 environment) completely rescues the 3 hour memory phenotype seen in Nf1[c00617] mutants. Expression only during adulthood is sufficient for complete rescue.
Expression of Nf1[Scer\UAS.cBa] in α'/β' neurons under the control of Scer\GAL4[c305a] is not sufficient to rescue the 3 hour memory phenotype of Nf1[c00617] homozygous mutants.
Expression of Nf1[Scer\UAS.cBa] in γ neurons under the control of Scer\GAL4[NP1131] is not sufficient to rescue the 3 hour memory phenotype of Nf1[c00617] homozygous mutants.
Expression of Nf1[Scer\UAS.cBa] throughout the central brain under the control of Scer\GAL4[Mz1081] is sufficient to rescue the 3 hour memory phenotype found in Nf1[c00617] mutants.
Expression of Nf1[Scer\UAS.cBa] throughout the central brain under the control of Scer\GAL4[NP0009] is sufficient to rescue the 3 hour memory phenotype found in Nf1[c00617] mutants.
Expression of Nf1[Scer\UAS.cBa] in the α/β mushroom body neurons under the control of Scer\GAL4[c739] is sufficient to rescue the 3 hour memory phenotype found in Nf1[c00617] mutants.
Expression of Nf1[Scer\UAS.cBa] in the central core of α/β mushroom body neurons under the control of Scer\GAL4[17d] is not sufficient to rescue the 3 hour memory phenotype found in Nf1[c00617] mutants.
The Nf1[c00617] 3 hour memory phenotype is fully rescued when Scer\GAL4[c747] is used to express Nf1[Scer\UAS.cBa]. However, flies also carrying Scer\GAL80[Mef2.PT] exhibit a performance score that is indistinguishable from Nf1[c00617] homozygous mutants.
