At 25[o]C expression of srlEY05931 driven by Scer\GAL4GMR.PU slightly decreases the number of ommatidia (non-significant) and bristles (significant) in the eye, and at 29[o]C (increased expression) there is an increase in the number of ommatidia and bristles compared to controls. Expression of srlEY05931 driven by Scer\GAL4Ddc.PU significantly decreases lifespan (at either temperature) and leads to a premature loss in climbing ability (25[o]C) over time compared to controls.

Male and female flies with over-expression of srlEY05931 driven by Scer\GAL4Act.PU show resistance to oxidative stress: flies survive better than controls following exposure to 20mM paraquat.
