Expression of Atg12dsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of either Scer\GAL4esg-NP5130 or Scer\GAL4Myo31DF-NP0001 results in increased intestinal stem cell proliferation in response to paraquat or Ecc15. A dramatic increase in cell death (cleaved caspase-3 levels) is observed in response to paraquat when Atg12dsRNA.Scer\UAS is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PU.

Clonal expression of Atg12dsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PP appears to block the formation of autophagy-related vesicles in larval fat bodies under starvation conditions compared with wild-type.

Expression of Atg12dsRNA.Scer\UAS in the motor neurons of third instar larvae under the control of Scer\GAL4D42, or in muscles under the control of Scer\GAL4C57, results in larval motility defects.

Animals expressing Atg12dsRNA.Scer\UAS in the salivary glands under the control of Scer\GAL4fkh.PH display persistent salivary gland cell fragments in 81% of pupae.

Flies expressing Atg12dsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.Switch.PR in the presence of RU486 show reduced lysotracker red staining of the adult midgut compared to controls in both fed and fasting flies.
