Detailed Description
| |||
Statement Reference The brains of homozygous zwilch1229 larvae have many aneuploid cells. Some zwilch1229 larval brain cells in anaphase show aberrant chromosomes that lag at the metaphase plate, while others show an unequal distribution of chromosomes between the two spindle poles. However, chromosome congression to the metaphase plate and the morphology of both the spindle and chromosomes appears normal. Unlike wild-type cells, zwilch1229 mutant cells are not arrested in metaphase in response to treatment with colchicine, suggesting that the mutants have a failure of the spindle checkpoint. Meiosis is also affected in zwilch1229 mutants, as zwilch1229 testes show high levels of chromosome missegregation during both meiotic divisions. | |||
