Expression of abScer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1 in the somatic cells of the germarium (using the temperature sensitive Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B allele to restrict expression to the adult stage) results in supernumerary germline cells containing a single spectrosome.
Single cell somatic clones in the ovary expressing abScer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4Act.PU and induced during niche development resemble niche cells by their shape and their ability to anchor germline cells containing a single spectrosome (SSCs). The mutant germaria contain supernumerary SSCs compared to controls.
Ectopic expression of abScer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4109(2)80 results in a 40% reduction in the number of dendritic ends of all dorsal cluster DA neurons in second instar larvae.
Expression of abScer\UAS.cBa in ddaC neurons, driven by Scer\GAL4477, leads to a 51% decrease in the dendritic branching of these neurons.
Expression of abScer\UAS.cBa in ddaE and vpda neurons, driven by Scer\GAL4221, leads to a decrease in dendritic branching in these neurons.
