Flies expressing Hsp27Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU have a normal eye phenotype.

Overexpression of Hsp27Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI fails to protect against tachypacing-induced atrial fibrillation. Tachypacing also engenders heart dysfunction in wild-type flies.

Expression of Hsp27Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.PB at either 25 or 29oC in male flies results in an increase in mean lifespan compared to controls. Expression of Hsp27Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 at 29oC in male flies results in an increase in mean lifespan compared to controls. Expression of Hsp27Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.PB in male flies results in an increased resistance to paraquat and heat stress compared to controls, and a marginal increase in starvation resistance compared to controls. Females expressing Hsp27Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.PB show a reduction in fecundity compared to controls, although there is no significant difference in hatching between eggs derived from these females and those derived from controls.
