The axons of larvae expressing Hsap\APPScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC (under the control of either Scer\GAL4elav-C155 or Scer\GAL4179Y) exhibit vesicle accumulation, indicating a defect in axonal transport.

The amplitude of basal EJC and spontaneous mEJPs is unchanged in larvae that express Hsap\APPScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4179Y or Scer\GAL4elav-C155 compared to wild-type.

Post-tetanic potentiation (PTP) is enhanced in axons from nerves expressing Hsap\APPScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC (under the control of either Scer\GAL4elav-C155 or Scer\GAL4179Y); after the early PTP, their EJC amplitude folows the common decay for approximately 1 minute but then remains relatively stable at approximately 115% of the baseline level.

Expressing Hsap\APPScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC, under the control of Scer\GAL4P2.4.Pdf, has no effect on the early development of the axonal pattern of sLNv neurons. However, Scer\GAL4P2.4.Pdf>Hsap\APPScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC has a largely postdevelopmental effect on the neurite arborization of the Drosophila brain. Scer\GAL4P2.4.Pdf>Hsap\APPScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC expression results in a large increase in axon outgrowth and arborization of the sLNv. This effect is greater at 28oC than at 18 or 25oC, which corresponds to higher levels of Scer\GAL4P2.4.Pdf-driven Hsap\APPScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC expression at higher temperatures.

When Hsap\APPScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC is driven by Scer\GAL4sca-537.4, a phenotype in the mechanosensory organs is seen.

Heterozygosity for the following alleles suppresses the Scer\GAL4P2.4.Pdf>Hsap\APPScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC-induced increase in sLNv axonal arborization: Abl1, Abl4, chic01320, chic221 and kay1. JraIA109/+ partially suppresses this phenotype. Coexpression of AblK417N.Scer\UAS or bskDN.Scer\UAS in the sLNv also reduces in the Hsap\APPScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC-induced axonal arborization. Heterozygosity for kay1 or ena02029 does not affect the arborization phenotype.
