Detailed Description
| |||
Statement Reference As well as "miniature"-like features, homozygous flies have a number of other phenotypes; Wings of homozygous flies are smaller than normal and have an increased density of hairs on the wing surface. The cell outlines are visible using an optical microscope (in contrast to those of wild-type animals). The mutant wing edge has a wavy shape. About 52% of homozygotes have diverged wings with an angle of about 45o with repsect to the bilateral axis. Neomorphic vein structures (small dark rounded, oval or irregular structures 2-8 μm in diameter are seen). The dorsal and ventral cuticle of the mutant wings are not attached to one another, and fluid remains between the cuticle surfaces. | |||
