Expression of Bper\ptxAScer\UAS.cKa under the control of Scer\GAL4CCAP.PP reduces the duration of pupal pre-ecdysis behavior stage, while expression under two copies of Scer\GAL4Lk.PM has no significant effect on the stage length.
Expression of Bper\ptxAScer\UAS.cKa under the contro of Scer\GAL4Orco.PU leads to behavioural deficits. The percentage of flies choosing a vinegar trap (an attractive odour) over a neutral odour is lower in these flies, compared to control.
The L-type sensilla of flies expressing Bper\ptxAScer\UAS.cKa under the control of Scer\GAL4Gr5a.PUn show a significantly reduced spike rate in response to sucrose (over a range of concentrations extending from 20 to 500mM) compared to wild-type control sensilla. Flies expressing Bper\ptxAScer\UAS.cKa under the control of Scer\GAL4Gr5a.PUn are completely unable to to discriminate between 2mM and 5mM sucrose in a 2-choice preference assay. Flies expressing Bper\ptxAScer\UAS.cKa under the control of Scer\GAL4Gr66a.PD show a normal avoidance response to caffeine and to quinine in a 2-choice preference assay.
