tioScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF results in roughening of the posterior portion of the adult eye as a result of nonspecific loss of photoreceptor cells within each ommatidium.

tioScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4dpp.PS induces ectopic eye formation in the third-instar antennal imaginal disc and adult. The antennal discs have a distorted shape and are significantly larger in size than wildtype.

tioScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4cb26 induces ectopic eye formation in the third-instar antennal imaginal disc and adult. The antennal discs have a distorted shape and are significantly larger in size than wildtype.

tioScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4cb41 induces ectopic eye formation in the third-instar antennal imaginal disc and adult. The antennal discs have a distorted shape and are significantly larger in size than wildtype.

tioScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4Ser.PGF often induces multiple ectopic eyes within a single third-instar antennal imaginal disc, and adult. The antennal discs have a distorted shape and are significantly larger in size than wildtype.

tioScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4c329b often induces multiple ectopic eyes within a single third-instar antennal imaginal disc, and adult. The antennal discs have a distorted shape and are significantly larger in size than wildtype.

tioScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4C833 induces ectopic eye formation in the third-instar antennal imaginal disc and adult. The antennal discs have a distorted shape and are significantly larger in size than wildtype.

tioScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4MJ33a often induces multiple ectopic eyes within a single third-instar antennal imaginal disc, and adult. The antennal discs have a distorted shape and are significantly larger in size than wildtype.

tioScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4T98 induces ectopic eye formation in the adult but ectopic tissue is not seen in the third-instar antennal imaginal disc. The antennal discs have a distorted shape and are significantly larger in size than wildtype.

Ectopic expression of tioScer\UAS.cLa in the epidermis at 25oC or 29oC, driven by Scer\GAL469B, causes a homeotic labial to T1 segment transformation, which is visible due to the formation of a denticle T1 "beard" in the labial segment. When mutants are maintained at 29oC, they experience a loss of denticles on the trunk, an effect that is not seen at 25oC.

Co-expression of tioScer\UAS.cLa restores stellate cell morphology is restored in adults expressing tshJF02856 under the control of Scer\GAL4tsh-c724. In addition, adult viability is partially rescued (22% of adults eclose) and the adults that emerge do not have bloated abdomens.

Expression of tioScer\UAS.cLa, under the control of Scer\GAL469B, partially rescues the denticle row phenotype of tsh8 mutants at 25oC, but fails to rescue this phenotype at 22oC. At 25oC, the partially-rescued larvae have five denticle rows, but types 1 and 2 are missing and types 3-6 are not in the same sequential order seen in wild-type larvae. The identity of the T1 segment is restored, shown by the presence of a T1 beard. However, expression of tioScer\UAS.cLa causes a new phenotype: ectopic denticles appear in the head region.
