GmdH78 homozygous m/z embryos exhibit a very low penetrance neurogenic phenotype (2/19) at 25[o]C. At 30[o]C these embryos display a fully penetrant neurogenic phenotype.
Homozygous clones in the adult intestine contain more cells per clone than wild-type controls. The fraction of homozygous clones containing dividing cells is increased compared to wild type and mutant clones containing more than one dividing cell are seen. Marker analysis suggests that the number of intestinal stem cells is increased. Terminal differentiation of enteroendocrine cells and enterocytes is unaffected in the mutant clones.
GmdH78 homozygotes barely survive to the third-instar larval stage.
GmdH78 heterozygotes exhibit a wild-type wing phenotype.
GmdH78 has intestinal stem cell | increased number | somatic clone phenotype, suppressible by Scer\GAL4Tub.PU/Ncdc10.UAS.Tag:MYC
Expression of Ncdc10.Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4tub.PU suppresses the formation of supernumerary intestinal stem cell-like cells which are produced in homozygous GmdH78 clones in the adult intestine.
