Imprecise excision of P{SUPor-P}KG05881 generates a genomic deletion removing the 5' section and upstream promoter regions of CheB42a, along with some enhancer regions of ppk25. Partial P-element sequences remain.
Males homozygous for CheB42aΔ5-22 have a much reduced courtship index relative to controls. However, these flies walk and preen more than controls or flies carrying CheB42a+tTg1. The typical climbing response to mechanosensory detection of gravity, stimulation of food intake by gustatory detection of sucrose is not affected in CheB42aΔ5-22 homozygous males.
CheB42aΔ5-22, CheB42a+tTg1 has abnormal behavior phenotype, non-suppressible by ppk25+tTg1
The addition of ppk25+tTg1 (with CheB42a+tTg1) has no effect on the walking and preening habits of CheB42aΔ5-22 homozygous males.
