hide Detailed Description
Statement
Reference
The total number of photoreceptors, as well as the number of Rh5-positive and Rh6-positive photoreceptors is normal in the eyes of larvae expressing wtsScer\UAS.X.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4so-7.GAL4.
Expression of wtsScer\UAS.X.T:Hsap\MYC in all photoreceptors, driven by Scer\GAL4GMR.long, results in eyes that contain only yR8 photoreceptor cells and completely lack pR8 photoreceptor cells. The dorsal rim area R8 cells are not affected.

Statement
Reference
Coexpression of both wtsScer\UAS.X.T:Hsap\MYC and meltScer\UAS.cTa, under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.long results in eyes with only yR8 photoreceptor cells and no pR8 photoreceptor cells, like eyes that express only wtsScer\UAS.X.T:Hsap\MYC. However, the eyes expressing both transgenes contain some R8 cells that express both Rh6 and Rh5, indicative of both p and y fates.
