      cnk14C/Df(2R)BSC161 embryos derived from mothers bearing cnk14C mutant germline clones and thus lacking both maternal and zygotic cnk show a complete loss of muscle founder cells at stage 11/12.

      The lethality of cnk14C/Df(2R)BSC161 mutants is rescued by combination with cnkfTRG1248, whereas the lethality of cnk14C homozygous mutants is only partially rescued: some flies survive to adulthood but most die at the pupal stage.
