Expression of S6kIIScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC in the eye, driven by Scer\GAL4GMR.PF, induces a rough eye phenotype with a dramatically reduced number of rhabdomeres. At the pupal level, eyes show a reduction in differentiation of cells into both neuronal and non-neuronal retinal cells.

Expression of S6kIIScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of either Scer\GAL4en-e16E or Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 induces compartment-specific vein loss in the wing.

Expression of S6kIIScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC, under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF, causes a more severe roughened-eye phenotype and a greater loss of rhabdomeres when expressed in a rl10a/+, Dsor1LH110/+, Ras85De1B/+ or phl12/+ background than when expressed in a wild-type background.

The roughened eye and increased rhabdomere phenotypes seen when either phlScer\UAS.F179 or Ras85DV12.Scer\UAS is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.2sev are suppressed when S6kIIScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC is coexpressed. Scer\GAL4hs.2sev>S6kIIScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC expression also suppresses the increased photoreceptor cell phenotype seen in sevS11.T:Hsap\MYC flies.

Coexpression of S6kIIScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC fails to suppress the increased photoreceptor cell phenotype of Scer\GAL4hs.2sev>rlSem.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 flies.
