Detailed Description

wnd1/wnd3 transheterozygotes do not show grooming defects, nor any obvious adult mushroom body defects.

wnd3/wnd3, but not wnd3/+, leads to a suppressed growth response of motoneuron axons after nerve crush injury in third instar larvae, as compared to wild type.

wnd1/wnd3 animals show severely reduced axon outgrowth in ddaC neurons after axon severing, while dendrite regeneration after complete removal of the dendrites appears normal.

wnd3/Df(3L)ED229 larvae show an increase in maximum bouton diameter at the neuromuscular junction compared to controls.

Under control conditions, wnd2/wnd3 transheterozygous third instar larvae do not display significant changes in the number of sensory axons per nerve, as compared to controls.

Trpml1/+;wnd3/+ double heterozygotes show decreased number of NMJ boutons in third instar larvae compared to either Trpml1/+ or wnd3/+ single heterozygotes.

The increased number of neuromuscular junction boutons in third instar larvae expressing RhebScer\UAS.cSa under the Scer\GAL4elav-C155 driver is significantly suppressed by combination with wnd3/+.

wnd2/wnd3 fully suppresses the increase in bouton number seen at the neuromuscular junction in shot3/shotVV third instar larvae.

A wnd3 background suppresses the bouton number increase and the reduction in bouton size seen in Rae1EX28 mutants.

The synaptic overgrowth phenotypes seen at the neuromuscular junction in Fsnf06595/Df(2R)Exel7124 larvae (increased bouton number, increased number of branch points and increased synaptic span) are completely suppressed by wnd3.

wnd3 can fully suppress the hiwND8 synaptic overgrowth phenotype.

Comments

Expression of wndScer\UAS.cCa, but not wndS301A.S305A.Scer\UAS, under the control of Scer\GAL4eve.RRa rescues the suppressed growth response of motoneuron axons after nerve crush injury seen in wnd3/wnd3 mutant larvae.
