wmdKG07581/Df(2R)BSC661 adult flies show wing defects.

Df(2R)BSC785 failed to complement wmdKG07581 for a visible wing phenotype.

Approximately 50% of homozygotes die as pharate adults, appearing to develop normally but failing to eclose.

Homozygotes/hemizygotes have wing morphogenesis defects consistent with improper lamination of the dorsal and ventral wing surfaces.

Heterozygotes show a direct effect on the shape of the wing.

Homozygotes show a failure of proper wing expansion. In particular, the dorsal and ventral layers of the wing do not show proper lamination, resulting in a variety of phenotypes ranging from a relatively mild convexity in the wing, with regional "wrinkles" where there is local failure in lamination, to strong blistering phenotypes or unexpanded wings.
