Expression of Hs3st-BdsRNA.IR.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PS does not affect development of the eye.

Expression of Hs3st-BdsRNA.IR.Scer\UAS line M6 (P{UAS-Hs3st-B.IR}M6) under the control of Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1 results in thickened longitudinal vein L3, reduction of the anterior crossvein, and macrochaete duplication. These phenotypes are milder than those caused by expression of Hs3st-BdsRNA.IR.Scer\UAS line M3 (P{UAS-Hs3st-B.IR}M3.

Expression of Hs3st-BdsRNA.IR.Scer\UAS line M3 (P{UAS-Hs3st-B.IR}M3) under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF causes a severe rough eye phenotype, including necrotic death and an irregular array or fusion of ommatidia, and duplication or loss of interommatidial bristles.

Expression of Hs3st-BdsRNA.IR.Scer\UAS line M3 (P{UAS-Hs3st-B.IR}M3) under the control of Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1 produces numerous ectopic sensory bristles (macrochaetae) on the mesothoracic notum, reduction in wing size, loss of the anterior cross vein, thickening of wing vein L3, extra or ectopic sensory organs on the anterior cross vein and vein L3, notching of the wing margin, extra sternopleural sensory bristles, extra sensory bristles on legs, and fusions between tarsal segments leading to shortened legs.

Expression of Hs3st-BdsRNA.IR.Scer\UAS line M3 (P{UAS-Hs3st-B.IR}M3) under the control of Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1 produces numerous sensory organ mother cells (SMCs) from each proneural cluster (as revealed by Ecol\lacZneur-A101 expression) whereas a single SMC is singled-out from each proneural cluster in control animals.

Expression of Hs3st-BdsRNA.IR.Scer\UAS line M3 (P{UAS-Hs3st-B.IR}M3) under the control of Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1 increases the number and size of endosomal and lysosomal compartments.
