The expression of DifdsRNA.IR.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4c564 blocks the normal inflammatory response to Gram-positive bacterial infection (assessed by the expression levels of Drosomycin), but has no significant effect in basal (non-infected) conditions, as compared to controls.
Flies expressing DifdsRNA.IR.Scer\UAS, under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 exhibit impaired immune response . They exhibit a dramatic loss of survival rate after infection with E.faecalis (gram-positive bacterium). This is mirrored to a lesser extent, when these flies are infected with B.bassiana (filamentous fungus) or C.albicans (yeast).
Adult flies expressing DifdsRNA.IR.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 show a reduced survival rate compared to control flies after bacterial (E.faecalis) infection.
Co-expression of either MP1dsRNA.Scer\UAS.WIZ or Sp7dsRNA.Scer\UAS.WIZ results in a further decrease in the survival rate of flies expressing DifdsRNA.IR.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 after fungal (C.albicans) infection.
