Expression of Rfx2202-480.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1 results in semi-lethality. Surviving flies have short bristles.
Expression of one copy of Rfx2202-480.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PS results in a rough eye phenotype. The ommatidia lack their normal regular hexagonal shape and appear to be fused. There is an extensive reduction in BrdU incorporation in the synchronised S-phase zone behind the morphogenetic furrow in eye imaginal discs expressing Rfx2202-480.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PS. There is also a significant increase in the number of apoptotic cells posterior to the morphogenetic furrow in these eye discs compared to controls.
Expression of Rfx2202-480.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL471B, Scer\GAL4twi.PG or Scer\GAL4Act88F.PD does not result in a detectable mutant phenotype.
