Statement

Cuticle melanisation induced by B.bassiana is partially suppressed by expression of MP1[dsRNA.Scer\UAS.WIZ] under the control of Scer\GAL4[Act].
Approximately 50% of animals carrying MP1dsRNA.Scer\UAS.WIZ and Scer\GAL4Act die at the late pupal stage or during eclosion. Adults expressing MP1dsRNA.Scer\UAS.WIZ under the control of Scer\GAL4Act do not show melanisation around a wound site a few hours after infection by piercing with a tungsten needle harboring E.coli and M.luteus, in contrast to control flies which show significant melanisation around the wound site. Adult flies expressing MP1dsRNA.Scer\UAS.WIZ under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 show a similar survival rate to control flies after bacterial (E.carotovora, E.faecalis) and fungal (B.bassiana) infection.

The lethality and melanisation of the adult tracheal system caused by expression of Spn77Ba[dsRNA.WIZ.Scer\UAS] under the control of Scer\GAL4[btl.PS] is suppressed by co-expression of MP1[dsRNA.Scer\UAS.WIZ].
Co-expression of MP1dsRNA.Scer\UAS.WIZ results in a further decrease in the survival rate of flies expressing DifdsRNA.IR.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 after fungal (C.albicans) infection. Co-expression of MP1dsRNA.Scer\UAS.WIZ results in a moderate further decrease in the survival rate of flies expressing BG4dsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 after bacterial (E.carotovora) infection.
