Detailed Description
Statement
Reference

Homozygous ommatidia completely lack the inter-rhabdomeral space.

Mutant files do not show normal entrainment to temperature cycles in assays studying locomotor rhythms.

eys734 mutants do not display optical isolation of photoreceptor cells. Ultra-structural analysis shows that rhabdomeres and stalk membranes are in close contact in eys734 mutants and individual rhabdomeres are often fragmented.

eys734/Df(2L)BSC37 mutants exhibit the same axonal projections between the eye and the brain as in wild-type. In addition, these mutants do not show defects in external eye morphology or retinal cell-type specification and patterning.

eys734 mutants do not exhibit defects in chordotonal organ organisation or sensory dendrite morphology. In addition, behavioural tests for touch sensitivity do not reveal any defects in mechanoreceptor function.

Statement

eys734/eys[+] is an enhancer of rhabdomere phenotype of rumiΔ26

Additional Comments
Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

eys734/+ strongly enhances the rhabdomere attachment phenotype of rumiΔ26 homozygotes raised at 18[o]C: multiple rhabdomeres collapse into one another in each ommatidium and there is a dramatic decrease in the size of the inter-rhabdomeral space (although small pockets of it are still present in each ommatidium).
