Scer\GAL4^tub.PU-mediated expression has no effect on development and normal fertile flies emerge.

Scer\GAL4^Act5C.PI-mediated expression, in the presence of P{UAS-Dcr-2.D}, results in lethality - less than 20% of flies hatch, and these only live for a few days, are infertile, and females show necrotic spots in the abdominal segments.

Adults expressing Rif1^GD9990 under the control of Scer\GAL4^elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2^Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.
