The expression of MitofilinGD4642 under the control of either Scer\GAL4Mhc.PU or Scer\GAL4elav.PU leads to a significant decrease in flight ability, but does not impair the climbing ability, as compared to controls. Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4Mhc.PU, but not Scer\GAL4elav.PU, leads a 'drooped wing posture, as compared to controls.

Third instar larvae expressing MitofilinGD4642 under the control of Scer\GAL4CCAP.PP show a severe decrease in both anterograde and retrograde axonal transport of mitochondria, as compared to controls.

The expression of MitofilinGD4642 under the control of Scer\GAL4Act.PU results in the third instar larval neuromuscular junctions not showing any obvious defects in the number of synaptic branches, or number and size of synaptic boutons, nor in mitochondrial membrane potential (assessed by tetramethylrhodamine) or in vesicle loading (in FM1-43 loading assay) in the synaptic boutons, as compared to controls. Expression of under the control of either Scer\GAL4Mhc.PU or Scer\GAL4elav.PU also not lead to any significant changes in the number of synaptic boutons or in vesicle loading (in FM1-43 loading assay) in those synaptic boutons, as compared to controls.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL41407 results in a reduction in the average size of neuroblasts together with shorter neuroblast lineages (less daughter cells per neuroblast) in the larval brain compared to controls.

Adults expressing MitofilinGD4642 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.

Expression of MitofilinGD4642 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) results in viable flies or complete lethality, depending on the particular P{GD4642} insertion line used.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 results in bristle morphology defects on the notum in 10-20% of the Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 expression domain.
